Prominent Black Pastor To Preside Over Bush Wedding
Staff Reporter | Posted February 3, 2008 8:15 PMThe Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell is making news again. Caldwell, the spiritual adviser to President George Bush, announced in church yesterday morning that he will preside over the wedding ceremony for first daughter Jenna Bush later this year.
But the Houston-based pastor, who is one of the most prominent African American ministers associated with President Bush, is keeping his ties to both parties. Caldwell, the senior pastor of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church, confirmed in church on Sunday that he is, in fact, endorsing Democrat Barack Obama for president.
He also announced that he plans to hold a town hall meeting on the presidential campaign soon. The event will feature CNN contributor Roland Martin, CNN's Donna Brazile and author Juan Williams.
Meanwhile, Jenna Bush is set to marry Henry Hager in May at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas.
