Obama, McCain sweep Potomac Primaries
Staff Reporter | Posted February 13, 2008 7:08 AMIt was called the "Potomac Primary." Vters in two neighboring states and the District of Columbia went to the polls to register their preference in the presidential election.
Senator John McCain was looking for wins to show the party that he was not being slowed down by his rival, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Meanwhile, Huckabee was hoping for a "miracle" that would bring him a victory in at least one of the three contests, but it did not happen
On the Democratic side, polls and analysis showed that Senator Barack Obama was the favorite candidate to win in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C even before the election. His wins last night were his second "clean sweep" since the Super Tuesday primary a week ago on February 5.
Obama has now won 8 contests in a row since Super Tuesday and Clinton has not one one. The race now moves to the primaries in Wisconsin next week.
