Is he the best ever?
Staff Reporter | Posted March 17, 2008 1:32 AM
Tiger Woods sank a 24-foot putt on the final hole at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando on Sunday to win his seventh consecutive tournament. His dramatic victory gave him his 64th career win, already surpassing Arnold Palmer, and now, at the tender age of 32, putting him in a tie for third place for the most career wins in the history of the sport.
Before he made the last minute 24-foot birdie, the on-air television announcers set the tone of the challenge by discussing Woods's failure to make a putt of longer than 18 feet all week.
With the odds stacked against him on his final attempt, he swung the club and watched as the ball paced its way right into the hole.
A jubilant Woods then jumped, threw his cap to the ground and pumped his arms in victory.
It was a feat that few others have been able to match in professional golf recently. Woods was able to pull out a victory just when he needed it most.
"I don't know how I did that," Woods said afterwards. "It was one of those things where I was just trying to get the speed right."

Am surprised that there weren't any comments to this story. I have been following Tiger's career for a very long time and he is perhaps the most amazing black man in the world today and yet there are no comments about his recent winning streak. I am not a golfer but I am someone who is interested in positive role models for our youth and Tiger is that incarnate. Yes, I understand that this is primarily a political site but come on people we should applaud such an outstanding example of someone who is creating an inordinate amount of productivity and positivity and celebrate his success. Well that is just my 2 cents! Cheeers!!
