U.S. death toll in Iraq reaches 4,000
Staff Reporter | Posted March 23, 2008 11:07 PM
In addition to the 4,000 fatalities, almost 30,000 U.S. troops have been wounded in the war, according to statistics complied by Iraq Coalition Casualty Count.
American public opinion remains firmly against the war. A new poll released last week by the Washington Post indicated that two-thirds of Americans believe the war was not worth fighting.
Iraqis aren't necessarily pleased with the war either. A recent survey of Iraqis found an increase in the number who believe the security situation is improving there. But despite the decrease in violence in recent months, 61 percent of Iraqis said that U.S. forces in the country were actually making the security situation worse.
This week Iraq experienced a series of dramatic attacks, indicating a possible spike in new violence.
