Bobby Brown says Whitney Houston drove him to drugs

"I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice." Those are the words of R&B singer Bobby Brown in his new memoir, "Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But."
Who would have guessed (and who would believe) that Whitney was the cause of his drug problem? "At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably," writes Brown in his tell-all book. "I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine," Brown says.
The excerpts from the book, which comes out next month, were published in the New York Post on Thursday, and generated a speedy response from Whitney Houston's camp.
"Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he needs to say such things, but she chooses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child, even if it's to set the record straight," said a spokesperson for the pop singer.
The couple married in 1992 and divorced in 2007 and they have a 15-year-old daughter together, Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown. Brown also talked about the marriage in his book, saying it "was doomed from the very beginning. Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow."
"I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married . . . I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children." The story about cleaning up her image was a reference to rumors about Houston's relationship with her assistant Robin Crawford, says Brown.
"In Whitney's situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not. In the short, I think I got caught up in the politics and ended up marrying one of the biggest stars in the world," Brown writes.
But Brown also admits that he cheated on Houston and pleaded "guilty of sleeping with other women." Said Brown, "Women are always throwing themselves at you. I'm only human."

Bobby Brown sounds just like every other drug addict out there who won’t step up to the plate and accept responsibility for their own actions. My guess is that until he recognizes that his drug use was his decision he will most likely continue in this lifestyle. Even though I don’t think Whitney is an angel by any means I think its pathetic that Bobby feels he needs to slander her name so he can make some money.

Isn't it about time that we stopped vilifying this man--who none of us know...CLEARLY whitney is (or was) a drug addict. Clearly the marriage was screwed up, and it may not be beyond the realm of possibilties that maybe both of their intentions weren't pure when they entered this marriage. They are BOTH human--he may not be perfect, but neither is she
Just because she was our sweetheart for so many years, doesn't make Bobby a liar the moment he says something that challenges our prior ideas about Whitney.

Trust me when I say that Whitney was into drugs wayyy before she met Bobby. And she was in a relationship with Robin Crawford long before Bobby was in the scene, and during the first few years of their marriage.
I am not sure why she used drugs at that level, but my assumption has always been that the pressure of living in the closet didn't help her addictions.
Bobby is no more than a kid from Boston with an addictive personality...Whitney may have provided him with money and an environment that gave him access to the harder drugs she and her circle was using, but she certainly didn't make him into an addict.
Birds of a feather flock together. Don't believe me? Then just look up Gary and Michael Houston (her brothers); both of whom were long-time members of her entourage, and both were heavy drug users.
Kids do not be decieved--whitney houston was nobody's good girl before she met him. He was not a good boy either, but that woman has ALWAYS been a very different person than who we saw on TV--trust those of us who knew her behind the scenes

Pls go on with more Annon. There has to be more that you can tell us. Those of us with no life..................wait that wasn't coming out right.
I mean those of us with inquiring minds want to know. Yeah, that's what I mean to say. And who knows? By the time all is said at least one of us might care.
On the real side it is said that they do have a daughter who is old enough to know what is going on and I can just imagine the ribbing that she is getting from all of her friends. That's if the poor kid has any. Or for that matter able to make any friends with other kids.

I love Whitney Houston to death!!! But I remember that when I was young she was dating Daryl Strawberry - and we know he was heavy into drugs. I always thought that she may have introduced Bobby to the harder drugs and it's sad. When you love someone sometimes you do things to make them happy - and if you become addicted to them - then everything else soon follows such as liking what they like. Doing drugs together - etc. They turned into a codependent couple and that only fueled their need for drugs. It's sad but I think they both have the opportunity to turn around and take their lives into another hopefully more positive stratosphere.

when these two first married I thought damn the frog prince and the nice, angelic super star. But I have found out time that Ms. Houston and Mr. Brown are on the same level for they both are illiterate, drug addicted, pershaps sex crazed spoiled brats. I am sure that what is in Mr. Brown's book is true. But I bet that Ms. Houston has some dirt to spill on her own!!

I saw the comment that Bobby made about Whitney cleaning up her image. Interesting. I don't generally ever talk about such things....but, well...I lived in Los Angeles for many years, traveled in some circles....met Bobby a few times...Sometimes its easier to hide something by giving the impression that you have told everything then no one can notice what you have held back. Maybe they both needed some cleaning....When your getting high alot you often do things you don't ordinarily do...I don't know if it is just drugs sometimes or just experimentation, but I KNOW B.B. has danced around offstage also...I chose to abstain from a duet myself, though.
