'CSI' star arrested for drug use
Staff Reporter | Posted April 30, 2008 1:01 PM
"CSI" star Gary Dourdan was arrested for drug charges on Monday in southern California. The 41-year-old actor and former model was charged with possession of narcotics and dangerous drugs, according to the Associated Press.
Dourdan was reportedly asleep in his car, which was parked on the wrong side of the street, when Palm Springs police officers arrested him around 5:12 Monday morning.
The arresting officer reportedly found cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, and prescription drugs and other "paraphernalia" in the vehicle. Dourdan was later released from jail on $5,000 bail.
Dourdan, who plays Warrick Brown on the CBS television drama series "CSI," won a 2003 NAACP Image Award for Best Supporting Actor. He was discovered by Debbie Allen and is the father of two children. An accomplished musician, Dourdan learned to play saxophone when his uncle, a saxophone player for Sister Sledge, gave him an instrument when he was about 13 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, Dourdan's family moved to Willingboro, New Jersey when he was young. At age 6, Dourdan's 26-year-old brother was murdered during a vacation to Haiti, and the case is still unsolved.

How ironic that this story comes out the same time when you reported in the latest news that black men are being targeted for drug crimes by the police. I'm not saying that Gary Dourdan was targeted by the police but why are so many black men getting busted for drug crimes and not whites?

There is no racial issue involved in this arrest. Gary Dourdan is simply another dope head Hollywood type. Dourdan committed crimes, justice is being administered.
Would this be a racial issue if Dourdan was doped up and killed people while driving under the influence?
Dourdan is a danger to society. His behavior needs to be corrected with appropriate actions, such as rehabilitation and court supervision.
Dourdan enjoys a right to destroy his life, enjoys a right to abuse his body and his mind, in privacy, such as at home or in a hotel room. Dourdan does not enjoy a right to drive around stoned out of his mind, which is a clear threat to all of us.
Dourdan set himself up for this bust. Now he is expected to accept responsibility for his actions.
There is no racial issue here. Dourdan is a dangerous dope head loose on our streets.
