Star Jones files for divorce
Staff Reporter | Posted April 23, 2008 6:41 PM
Star Jones-Reynolds and Al Reynolds are headed to splitsville. More than three years after they married in November 2004, the pair are apparently calling it quits.

Jones-Reynolds, 46, officially filed for divorce last month in New York, just as rumors were spreading on the Internet that the couple were no longer an item.
"Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce," Jones-Reynolds said in a statement released today.
"The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."
The talk show host was widely criticized when she openly solicited sponsorship and promoted the sponsors of her wedding in the fall of 2004 while she was still serving as a co-host of ABC's "The View." Jones-Reynolds was later fired from her job, and the network claimed thather reports about her wedding plans alienated viewers and her alleged acceptance of clothing and merchandise for the event in exchange for televised promotion violated network policy.

Al let her go one about her business. You deserve better than that. You are still a very nice looking guy. Get yourself a nice guy and sit back and have yourself a seat.
If her filing for divorce took one month to hit the news then how much more proof is needed that she is not the shining star that she thinks she is? Based on the press reports I have read so far it sounds like she was the one who asked the press to write about it.

Al is gay, and everyone in NYC knows this. For some reason powerful Black women get with gay men (Star, Oprah, Terry McMillan, etc.).
Three empowered Black women, all falling for Gay Men. What's up with that?

@Anonymous
"What's up with that?", you ask.
They've got good taste in men... but poor judgement in character.

Excuse me, but this wasn't a shock for anybody. According to Ms. Star, God sent her Al so she can change him...change him into WHAT? Straight?! I don't think so. He knew how she was. She knew how he was. It's just sad. Al, go on about your business and use this as a learning experience. Be true to who YOU are and the rest will take care of it's self. Apparently, Ms. Jones-Reynolds isn't all that she professed to be either.

Its amazing how catty people can be with over the top celebrities like Starlet, she married a man she loved, and it didn't work out, wow, 50% of all marriages don't. As for the gay allegations, anyone who thinks her man is 100% straight needs a wake up call, since, men will creep with anything that crawl, don't fool yourselves.

Lurlene,
You are so right. Its amazing how people are so quick to critique.

Funny how people are lead. A seed- a word can create ugliness and beauty. How do we know he is gay- cause he looks it? One perosn says it then everbody is calls him Gay -Al. Childish grown adults. If he is gay- then it is his lying/ denial that is a problem. Homophobia is a real disease and continues the DL trend. Does anyone have proof? Only Star knows the truth- let it go people and stop being so damn gay obsessed. Damn already.

OK - suppose Al did live a gay lifestyle prior to his commitment to Star. Then, maybe he tried to be with a woman and get married to avoid ridicule like that we read about on comment pages like this. Maybe the man wants to be accepted like everyone else in society. Imagine him thinking, "Since they said that I'm not born gay and it can be overcome, I'll push within myself against being gay and try ,against some odds, to be straight".
Not to mention people go to church and are taught that God can change people and situations - (All things are possible through Christ that strengthens me).
Now that he tried (marriage)and it didn't work, being gay is being thrown in his face. Please people stop this. Help people, don't hurt them. As someone else said in an earlier post, "that's why there is the DL society". If people WEREN'T DL, you'll blatantly disrespect them.
Try to remember - It is a stuggle that people are going through. Maybe Star wasn't trying to change Al, but took a stand and showed the love that she has for her fellow man by trying to help him with his own struggle to change.
