Ferraro says she may not vote for Obama in the fall

Ferraro, a Hillary Clinton supporter, praised her candidate and chastised Obama in an interview published in today's New York Times.

"I think Obama was terribly sexist," Ferraro told the Times, adding that she might not vote for the likely Democratic nominee in the fall. But Ferraro offered praise for Clinton, telling the Times that Clinton had "raised this whole woman candidate thing to a whole different level than when I ran."

Ferraro ran into trouble in March when she told  a newspaper in California that Obama was winning because he is black. "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," Ferraro said. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept," she said.

Ferraro's newest remarks were reported Monday in a Times story about the prospects for female candidates in the wake of an apparent Hillary Clinton loss for the Democratic presidential nomination. She was not the only person quoted in the story to express resentment toward Obama.

Nancy Wait, described as a 55-year-old social worker in Indiana, told the Times that Obama was far less qualified than Clinton and described his recent comments that Clinton should stay in the race as long as she liked as condescending. Wait said she would "absolutely, positively not" vote for Obama in the fall, according to the Times.
