GMA profiles McCain's ties to controversial pastor Rod Parsley
Staff Reporter | Posted May 22, 2008 3:03 PMABC News investigative reporter Brian Ross profiled Pastor Parley on "Good Morning America" on Thursday, possibly signaling that mainstream media outlets may begin to focus attention on the Ohio-based minister who McCain has called a "moral compass and a spiritual guide."
"Islam is an anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world," Parsley has said. "America was founded, in part," said Parsley, "with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed. And I believe September 11, 2001 was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore."
Ross said McCain sought and received Parsley's endorsement and has done nothing to reject Parsley's remarks, even though McCain's own comments "seem in stark contrast."
