Joni, iron my blouse, sweetie! You are whining about Ferraro whining! You, Joni, are truly whining. Ferraro is speaking out with an adamant attitude which I respect, greatly. Ferraro is a strong woman, just like Hillary Clinton. Ferraro is not barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen. Ferraro is not a "sweetie" as Obama would have her be. Joni, you write, "From her [Ferraro] viewpoint everything is sexist." My, oh my, you are mixing up your sourdough with a broad mixing paddle! Get back into your kitchen, sweetie! It is impossible for you or anyone to know what is Ferraro's private viewpoint. You do not know if Ferraro views "everything" as sexist. Sweetie, your upside down cake is half-baked. This comment of yours is hilarious and is hypocritical, "When you play with the big boys you are going to get knocked down and you've got to get back up." Why is Obama displaying he is a sissy boy? Once again Ms Ferraro anger is misdirected because black men did not and do not have the power or authority to discriminate against or deprive white women or anyone of equality; we still do not have it ourselves. Thanks for the truth about the anger The issue is that neither sign should be tolerated. However I must point out that Ms. Ferraro and Mrs. Clinton are the recipients of many privileges that their African American peers were not privy too. I also would point out the fact they are still welcomed and have attended places where their African American male counterparts are not welcomed and allowed without prejudice.

Well one thing is for sure. If she does somehow get nominated, she will have to deal with much tougher attacks from the GOP than Obama flicking his shoulder. The attacks (perceived ones and real ones) are part of the political process. How they respond and handle these attacks is more proof of their character. If Hillary was offended she didn't show it which is fair and probably good strategy. And if Obama's shoulder-flick was an attack/ attempt at dis-respect towards Hillary then he did it almost imperceptibly to most voters. Let's see if the Obama campaign responds to this blatant attack that Ferraro is making.

Geraldine Ferraro is an idiot. It's funny how she talks about all of the sexism in the mainstream media and falsely asserts the Obama campaign as being sexist but she couldn't see how her own insensitive racist comments about Obama only being in the position he's in because his skin color offend people. The irony in that! Puhlease Ferraro, give me a break! I can site quite a few incidents throughout this campaign where blatant racism was showing its ugly head and nobody in the mainstream media or in Clinton's camp reported on it or called it out for what it was. In your face Raw RACISM. In Texas, one of Senator Obama's campaign offices was burglarized and trashed. Now this type of thing has happened to other candidates and as a matter of fact it has happened quite frequently. It has also happened to Clinton's campaign offices but this particular burglary was special in of its nature because the perpetrators made it blatantly obvious what their motives were for burglarizing Senator Obama's campaign office. Throughout the whole entire office nasty racial slurs and racial epithets were spray painted on the walls and furniture and throughout the entire office. And get this *****NOBODY IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA REPORTED ON IT***** It went totally unnoticed and no one said a word about it. That was just one of many examples I could list about the blatant in your face racism in this campaign that no one found important enough to report on in the mainstream media, but Geraldine Ferraro wants to lose her britches over some idiot that held up a sign at a Clinton rally. Her hypocrisy and all the other so-called feminist man-hating bitiches crying sexism is astounding. The Washington Post just came out with an article last week listing some of the racial animosity and tension some Obama supporters have been getting on the campaign trail. There is a video on youtube that centers around some West Virginia voters not voting for Senator Obama because he is black. There have been a lot more incidents throughout this campaign where race has cost Senator Obama votes and support than Senator Clinton's gender has. I'm sure there are incidents where Senator Clinton has lost support because of sexism and because of her gender but I'd be willing to bet that Senator Obama's race has cost him a lot more votes and support than Hillary Clinton's gender has for her.

Ferraro was an admired waxwork, a symbol of national progress and a brief entry in a child's textbook. Then she confided her opinion of the Democratic presidential front-runner to a California newspaper. "If [Barack] Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

This whole election has exposed the pettiness of white woman and the gender struggle. From an outside perspective moaning about sexism or racism is just silly and shows lack of appreciation of the larger issues the US nation has to deal with affecting everyone, white or black. It also demonstrates childishness on the part of the Hillary camp! But they do a great job of deflecting from the real issues of why she lost the race. The US will one day have a woman president. But is she fails to plan properly she has alrady failed herself and the nation.

Great article, and, you left out another key word, BITTER. Its a shame that her hatred of men and black men in particular has surfaced at her advanced age, but, this will be her legacy, sour, racist, shrewish old woman.

Geraldine Ferraro is a disingenuous liar. A LIAR. She is intentionally NOT being truthful and loving it. I honestly do NOT believe she is crazy, she is intentionally trying to manipulate the media by being brazen and outspoken. For instance... when she made her comment about Obama ONLY being where he is, because he was "black", and that he didn't deserve his position in the poles... she was just being angry and nonsensical. Had Obama been even slightly different, he could have easily turned off black voters. Many popular black leaders spoke out against him... saying he wasn't "black enough", and even bringing up his past drug-use. This would have been MORE than ENOUGH to sink a less candidate, even amongst those of his own race. --But his campaign on hope, his consistency, and grace under pressure, has been a real hallmark of what he's accomplished. Not simply his race. Conversely, the Clintons have done HUGE damage to their image amongst the black community, where they'd previously enjoyed a lot of support. That support was Clintons to lose. When called on her devisive rhetoric, Ferraro accused the Obama camp of "playing the race card" and calling her a racist... which NO ONE in the Obama camp had done. You can't find 1 quote. In fact, Obama said, when asked about the label, specifically he would not use the word "racist" easily, and that she was simply practicing the politics of division. --Which she WAS and IS. Now, she's calling Obama "sexist". Let's be honest. Almost everyone is rolling their eyes that "sweetie" would be considered an insult. Even the original reporter thought it was nothing special. I get called "honey" by older people all the time. Obama is in his 40s. To call a 20-something year old reporter "sweetie", is hardly a cardinal sin. Moreover, Ferraro's "examples" of his sexism, were pathetic and revealing. Very empty. --Yet, Clinton supporters are repeating her charges add nauseum. In all fairness, I'm sure many misguided Obama supporters called her "racist". But, we need to stop that divisive talk. "Racial" is NOT "racist". "Sweetie" is NOT "sexist". Ferraro needs to replace the needle on her record. Her angry brand of politics are just not helping anyone. Clinton's "victim" card is somewhat powerful, but like many negative tactics... it cuts both ways. Ferraro needs to NOT play that card on Clinton's behalf. Obama has not complained about "racism" on the trail... yet, its there. Muslim this, muslim that. The code words of "you're different than me." We need to resolve the smallness of our politics so that we can solve the bigger challenges for America.

I would think that after West Virginia, she'd realize that Obama is "not fortunate to be who he is," but she apparently does not. Instead, she insists on painting Hillary as the victim of some kind of reverse racism as well as sexism. This is sad. I once admired Ferraro, but my respect for her is fading fast. As for Obama's "sweetie" comment-- I do think that was sexist. It made me bristle, particularly since I, too, have worked as a journalist and I know a dismissive comment when I hear it. Still, I like Obama better than Hillary, who is desperately appealing to uneducated racists to keep her campaign afloat. It's pathetic and it's cynical, and I can't let it slide.
