BET J will become the first black television network to air a gay-themed television series when the network airs a special marathon of Noah's Arc this week.
Noah's Arc is a comedy-drama television series depicting a group of black gay friends in Los Angeles. The series first aired on the LOGO network, owned by Viacom, and will now air on BET J, also owned by Viacom. "The network is very excited to air this series," said BET J executive producer Sean Joell Johnson. Johnson said BET J was airing the special two-night marathon series in honor of Pride month, which happens every June in the United States.
The show's creator was also excited about the agreement. "I'm thrilled that the show is airing on BET J," said Noah's Arc writer-director Patrik-Ian Polk. "It's a great opportunity to introduce the show to a whole new audience that may not have discovered the LOGO network, and it gives them a taste of what's coming in the new Noah's Arc feature film this fall." The Noah's Arc film will be released in October, according to Polk.
BET J, a network with more than 28 million subscribers, received a special recognition award from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) earlier this year for its programming, which includes several openly gay and lesbian hosts and on-air personalities.
The entire first season of Noah's Arc will air tonight (Thursday, June 19) from 10 p.m. - 2:30 a.m. Pacific Time (1 -5:30 a.m. EDT). The full second season will air on Sunday, June 22 from 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. Pacific Time (1am--5am EDT). The full series will air again at the same times next week, on Thursday June 26 and Sunday June 29.
The Daily Voice has a business relationship with BET J, which is a founding sponsor of this site.
