Redeem Team lives up to its name, wins gold in Beijing
Staff Reporter | Posted August 25, 2008 10:50 AMThe U.S. basketball team, dubbed the "redeem team," lived up to its name in Beijing at brought back the gold after a disappointing bronze medal finish in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
The U.S. squad defeated Spain 118-107 in a surprisingly competitive final game. Dwyane Wade scored 27 points to lead the Americans and Kobe Bryant put in 20. After the victory, the jubilant Americans celebrated. "The U.S.A. is back on top," said Bryant.
