BREAKING NEWS -- Several major news organizations are reporting that Joe Biden will be Barack Obama's running mate.
CNN, NBC and the New York Times are all reporting that they have confirmed Biden's selection. ABC News has reported Secret Service agents have been dispatched to Biden's home. And the New York Times is reporting "a consensus within the party" that Biden has been selected.
The official announcement is expected by text message early this morning, and then the two candidates will appear together in Springfield, Illinois for a rally later in the day.
