McCain wins in dramatic new Obama ad
Staff Reporter | Posted September 28, 2008 5:19 PMIt's Tuesday evening, November 4, and NBC News has just projected that John McCain has won the election to become the 44th president of the United States.
That's the scenario in a new voter registration ad released by the Obama campaign this weekend.
The ad begins with the NBC News music lead-in followed by NBC News host Tom Brokaw announcing the end of the race. "One of the most bitterly contested campaigns in modern memory, representing stark differences in the future of this country, is now history. The polls have closed and we have some results for you now."
The ad then switches to an MSNBC screen showing McCain as the projected winner with 51 percent to Obama's 49 percent. McCain's picture is shown next to the words "44th President of the United States." The announcer says: "John McCain's victory has been projected by NBC News. Let's go directly now to headquarters."
McCain is then shown at a victory rally with his wife Cindy. McCain tells his cheering supporters: "Thank you. Let me tell you. I'm very happy..."
The screen fades and the words "It doesn't have to be that way" appear on the black screen. The ad encourages voters to register to vote, request to vote absentee, and find your polling location. The ad tells voters to go to VoteForChange.com, an Obama campaign web site for voter registration.
