British observers cheer Obama election
Staff Reporter | Posted November 12, 2008 10:41 PMLast week's presidential election reverberated throughout the world, affecting observers from Africa to Latin America to Asian and Europe.
Some British fans were ecstatic about Barack Obama's election as president and Reuters Video interviewed a few on camera as they sent their well wishes to the new American leader.
Oyem, a female medical worker at St. Thomas' Hospital told Reuters: "I am proud of you and I am happy that the message that you have sent out to all black people is really good."
Meanwhile, Lola Paul, a senior finance account worker, sent her congratulations to Obama. "You have made our dream," said Paul, who is black. "[Martin] Luther King said he had a dream and you made that dream for us. Not only for the Americans, you made it for the whole world. And we will continue to back you up and continue to pray for you. And I thank you so much for making us proud."
