Marion Barry, former DC mayor, arrested for stalking
Staff Reporter | Posted July 5, 2009 1:29 PMFormer Washington, D.C. Mayor Marion Barry has been arrested for stalking.
Barry was taken into custody Saturday night by U.S. Park Police in the Anacostia Park area, according to the Washington Post. He was reportedly "bothering" a woman in a car nearby.
Barry served as mayor of Washington, D.C. from 1979 to 1991, and again from 1995 to 1999, despite having been arrested in 1990 and convicted on drug charges. He served six months in a federal prison.
Barry, 73, currently serves on the city council, representing Ward 8, which comprises mostly African American neighborhoods of Anacostia, Congress Heights and Washington Highlands.
Earlier this year, Barry announced his opposition to same-sex marriage in a speech to religious leaders. "Politicians out to be moral," Barry said then. "I am a politician who's moral."
Barry is currently on probation for tax offenses.

Point, many politicians have connections to stupidity and corruption. To consider Massachusettes residents ignorant or less than you for voting their disagreement with your choice is as snobbish and elitist as it comes.
From the looks of the article, he was arrested after the woman, the ex-girlfriend with whom he had an earlier lunch out of town, flagged an officer to alert that she was being "bothered" by a man following the car she and her ex-husband were driving. She later recanted and stated that she did not intend for him to be arrested, never felt threatened and thought Barry was pulled over for a traffic violation.
