Obama to visit Africa

President Obama is headed to Ghana this week, marking the first visit to sub-Saharan Africa by America's first African American president.

Obama traveled to Egypt earlier this year, a mostly Arab nation in north Africa, but the stop in Ghana marks an historic first for the man with Kenyan roots who rose to become the president of the United States.

The presidential visit comes after two other important stops on his tour. Obama visits Russia and meets with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and also visits the Vatican to meet with Pope Benedict XVI.

While in Ghana, President Obama will speak to parliament and tour a castle that was used for slave trading in the West African country.
