California has legalized same-sex marriage. In a 4-3 decision, the state Supreme Court issued an opinion Thursday afternoon striking down marriage discrimination based on sexual orientation and affirming the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry.

Senator Barack Obama won one of the most coveted endorsements available Wednesday night. His former rival, former North Carolina Senator John Edwards, flew to Michigan and announced he was endorsing Obama for president. "The Democratic voters in America have made their choice and so have I," said Edwards.

I've lived through nine presidential elections and no Democrat has ever won the majority of the white vote in any of them. Jimmy Carter won just 49 percent of the white vote in 1976 and Bill Clinton won 38 percent of white voters in 1992.
