It happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, in Darien at David Harvey Jewelers at 995 Post Rd. (Route 1). Upon arrival, officers discovered a smashed front door and scattered jewelry on the sidewalk. Numerous display cases were smashed inside the store, with jewelry strewn across the floor. Police ID Electric Scooter Rider Struck, Killed On Route 1 A 22-year-old man on an electric scooter was struck and killed along Route 1 in Edison, authorities said. Raul Montoya-Chavez, of Edison, was hit in the southbound center lane of Route 1 at about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 as he tried to cross at Plainfield Avenue, Edison police said. Montoya-Chavez died of his injuries at an area hospital, police said. The 61-year-old Rahway man driving the SUV had a green light and is not expected to be charged, police said.

Alert Issued For Missing 14-Year-Old From Bay Shore Police are asking for help in locating a missing teenager from Long Island. Angie Reyes, age 14, of Bay Shore, was last seen on Stein Drive at around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 15. Suffolk County Police said the teen is believed to be suicidal and may be in need of medical attention. Reyes is Hispanic, 4-feet-11 and 115 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes.
